Whalesharks (and friends) in Djibouti

At the Southernmost tip of the Red Sea lies Djibouti. Although rather a poor country, Djibouti is a hot-spot for Whalesharks, the largest of all fish. Despite their size these fish are dosile plankton feeders and the nutrient rich water is clearly why the sharks are here but researchers have yet to determine why there are no adults or babies to be found here. All the sharks you see in this album are between 4 and 8 metres long. Adults can grow to around 20 metres.
