Duchenne Dip

Last June we were asked to take photos at a charity event. The amazing Lygo family; Nicki, Matt, Maddy, Gabe and Nate have been raising money on behalf of The Duchenne Children’s Trust for the past 3 years now, inspired by the very real possibility of seeing an end to Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy; a progressive and currently terminal disease. Clinical trials are underway to slow the progression of the disease and it’s estimated that, with financial support to keep the research going, the condition can be stopped entirely, even for existing sufferers.

We offered our services as underwater photographers to document the event, taking action shots of 33 kids who, between them, swam over 26 miles! After each swimmer had done their stint, we took their portrait while they dunked themselves, pulled funny faces and waved at the camera.

Such great fun, we put our names down for 2017 immediately and now, the date for the 2017 Duchenne Dip is fast approaching. We’re hoping for more enthusiastic swimmers, smiley faces and lots of money being raised towards such a good cause.

We’re so pleased to be involved with this event – it’s such a good feeling that money donated might make the difference between finding a cure and not within the next 10 years!

Good luck and have fun to all this year’s participants! Don’t forget to smile for the camera!
